MugJai privacy policy

MugJai (“we”) is a Hong Kong daily-living app for wellbeing, finance, and everyday adulting. You may browse anonymously. This policy describes what we collect, how we use, store, and share it (including Google user data), and how to delete your account.

Data we collect

• Account: email address, display name, and Firebase user ID. Sign-in may use Apple, Google, or email/password.
• Google Sign-In: we request your Google account email and name/profile photo only to create or sign in to your MugJai account.
• Optional onboarding: gender, age band, occupation, life stage, and whether you have dependents. All fields are optional and used only to personalize Ask tone.
• In-app activity: bookmarks, master notes, Ask chat sessions, and labelled affiliate clicks.
• Push: a device token via Firebase Cloud Messaging so we can send occasional editorial reminders you can turn off.

Google user data (Limited Use)

MugJai’s use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. We use your Google email and name only to authenticate you. We do not sell this data, use it for advertising, or use it to train public models. We do not share it with third parties except as needed to operate Firebase Authentication on Google Cloud.

How we use data

To provide your account, sync bookmarks and notes, answer your questions with citations, send campaign notifications you have enabled, and protect the service. We do not use personal data for ads or credit scoring.

Sharing and processors

Google Firebase Authentication, Cloud Messaging, and Google Cloud (asia-east2 in Hong Kong for app data; asia-southeast1 for embeddings; Vertex Gemini for Ask). Apple Sign-In if you choose Apple. We do not sell personal data.

Where data lives

App data (account profile, bookmarks, the content database) is stored in Google Cloud asia-east2 (Hong Kong). Article embeddings (Vertex) run in asia-southeast1 (Singapore). Generative AI for Ask (Gemini Flash) runs on Vertex global. Search sends your query to the Singapore region; Ask sends your question to the global Vertex endpoint. We do not use your content to train public models.

Retention and deletion

We keep account data until you delete your account. Deleting your account in the app calls CMS DELETE /api/v1/me, which wipes your profile and bookmarks, and asks ADK DELETE /privacy/me to wipe chat sessions and daily Ask-cap rows. The app then deletes your Firebase user. This cannot be undone.

Push notifications

Campaign notifications (for example rental season reminders) are occasional editorial pushes sent with Firebase Cloud Messaging — not ads. You can disable them in the app Settings screen or in system notification settings.

AI use

Generative AI is used only to answer daily-living questions from published editorial guides. MugJai does not generate intimate imagery or non-consensual intimate imagery (NCII).

Children

MugJai is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal data.
